Property Details

Field View is accessed from Cottons Lane via a pedestrian archway off Cottons Lane with an attractive walkway along the neighbouring cottage and valley views.  The front door is set into a small porch which provides space for outdoor clothing.  The ground floor has a lounge which contains adequate seating for up to four adults, however, it is recommended that for a longer stay it would be more comfortable for 2 to 3 adults maximum.  A child high-chair booster seat is provided for those with a young child.  The room provides A dining table, TV with internal DVD, Wifi connection and a small music centre for CD and radio, soft seating.  There is a selection of DVDs and books at the premises.  We also encourage people, if they wish to swap books they may.  This adds to variety and allows people to finish a novel if they cannot during their stay.  We do however, ask people if they do decide to take a book with them to replace it with something of equal quality, so not to result in a “raid” of the book shelves.

The lounge also has a log burner, some logs and fire lighting equipment will generally be provided. Another interesting feature of the cottage is the window seat set into the thick stone walls.

The kitchen is accessed from the lounge and is fully fitted. It contains electric fan oven, electric hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and freezer, and washing machine. There is a deep double butler sink fitted and wooden tops. Removable washing up draining facilities are provided.

The cottage has a total of three bedrooms, which includes one master bedroom on the first floor with a double bed, from which the loft bedroom can be accessed which has a single bed. It would be perhaps most appealing to a younger child, although it is capable of accommodating an adult.  The second bedroom situated on the first floor, has a single futon.  A child’s travel cot is available and can be set up on request in this second bedroom. All bedrooms have a view over the valley and are fitted with either blinds or curtains, their own clothes storage, lighting and hair-dryers.

Bathroom is situated on the first floor and provides a bath and fitted shower.  Instant hot water is available as the premises is fitted with combi-boiler which also powers the central heating system.

Parking is available in the West Street Long Stay Car Park which is about 2 minutes walk from the cottage.  On-street car parking is available in adjacent streets of West Street or Cutwell.  It is possible to stop in Cottons Lane for loading and unloading purposes.  Cottons Lane is a traditional village lane, which is not heavily trafficked and easily navigated but is too narrow for regular parking except those few spaces which are for the adjacent full-time residents.

The property does have its own terraced garden which is accessed from a gate and stairway leading from the front of the cottage.  It is split over three square terraces comprising of a patio, where a garden table and 4 chairs are provided for external dining purposes, a gravelled sculpted are and a small lawn.  The garden looks over the green river valley and flood plain.  It is a pretty valley with native trees and often has sheep grazing in the field.  It is private farm property so cannot be accessed by walkers but can be enjoyed from Field View’s garden.
